Why it exists
Most websites publish a sitemap: a list of the pages the site owner wants search engines to find. Very few owners check that those pages actually work. Are they returning errors, redirecting, blocked from indexing, or missing a title?
SEO suites can answer that, along with a great deal more, usually for a monthly subscription. Check My Sitemap does one job: enter a domain, and it checks every URL your sitemap lists, then tells you in plain English what's wrong and what to fix first. Who builds and runs it
Check My Sitemap is built and run independently in Ireland. It isn't backed by an agency or a larger SEO company.
The person behind it has spent more than 20 years building websites and running the systems and data behind them:
- Web development. From building high-traffic property listing websites to acting as technical lead on a large organisation's core web platform.
- Data migration. Led the technical delivery of an enterprise CRM data migration for 30,000 users across 9 departments, including a multi-million-record dataset, with repeatable validation and reconciliation processes.
- Databases and production support. Years diagnosing live database and application failures, and introducing monitoring to catch faults early.
- Technology risk and governance. Operational data controls, release and change practices, and a professional certificate in technology risk and data incident management.
Qualifications include an MSc in IT-enabled innovation (first-class honours), a BSc in computer applications, and diplomas in project management and leadership.
That background shapes the product. Migration work teaches you that the hard part is proving nothing went missing, which is what the migration audit checks. Production support teaches you to say clearly what was checked and what wasn't. Data governance means collecting as little personal data as possible.
