Where is my WooCommerce sitemap?

/wp-sitemap.xml, or /sitemap_index.xml with Yoast SEO or Rank Math

WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so your store uses WordPress's sitemap: /wp-sitemap.xml by default, or /sitemap_index.xml with Yoast SEO or Rank Math, which add a separate product sitemap. We find it automatically through /sitemap.xml and your robots.txt.

What we find on WooCommerce sites

Common WooCommerce sitemap problems

Deleted and discontinued products

Products you've deleted or trashed can linger in cached sitemaps and search results as 404s. We flag every broken product URL, so you can redirect it to the closest match.

Cart, checkout and account pages

WooCommerce marks these pages noindex, but they can still end up in the sitemap. We flag every noindex page the sitemap lists.

Product URLs that redirect

Changing the product base under Settings → Permalinks, or a product's slug, leaves redirects behind. We list every product URL that redirects and where it ends up.

Duplicate product titles and descriptions

Similar products often share a title or have no meta description at all. We group every duplicate and list every gap.

Thin product and category pages

Products with a one-line description and near-empty category pages are flagged as thin content.

Product images without alt text

We count images missing alt text on every product page.

Slow store pages

Heavy themes and plugins slow product and category pages. We time every URL and list the slowest first.

Quick fixes for WooCommerce

  • Redirect deleted products to a similar product or their category with a 301 redirect.
  • Exclude cart, checkout and my-account pages from your SEO plugin's sitemap.
  • Write a unique meta description for your top-selling products and categories first.

Then run a re-check within 30 days of buying your report to confirm the fixes, at 50% off.
